The Biggest Misconception With Anxiety Recovery Today

February 28, 2023

Are you ready to hear the biggest misconception with anxiety today? I hope so, because it will make a lasting difference in your mindset towards your recovery. Sit back and please enjoy this anxiety podcast episode.

Podcast show notes:

The longer we play this mental tug of war with the 95% of us that dictates our perceptions and behaviors known as the subconscious mind or inner child, the crazier we will feel and the deeper down the rabbit hole we will go.

Let’s take positive thinking for instance. Positive thinking is great for stress but a useless solution for anxiety because it forces changes upon the subconscious mind which then creates resistance therefore more tension and rigidity. I’m a huge fan of positive thinking, just not for a chronically fatigued anxiety sufferer.

Now don’t get me wrong, sometimes the 5% conscious mind can affect the 95% subconscious mind given enough evidence and emotion to support the new thought that defies the irrational fear. However in most cases the progress is short lived if the body isn’t involved and cooperating with the change of thought.

The biggest missing component in healing anxiety today is the body. I don’t have time today to go onto the details over how to do this, and nor do I want to because that would be too much for you in one day. Instead, your responsibility today is to acknowledge the need to use the body as the first and most important pillar in pretty much all the change work you do from trauma work, imagery, and exposure work.

When I speak of exposure work yes we are bringing the body with us to reveal the safety of any given situation but the question is are we taking control of the body or is the body controlling us? That’s it, that’s all you need from me today on this episode of the anxiety guy podcast.

Anxiety quote of the day from this podcast:

“With anxiety today the biggest missing component in our healing work is the collaboration of the body.”
