Attention and Awareness In Connection To Your Anxiety Recovery

March 13, 2023

Your anxiety recovery is highly dependent on your ability to lessen your attention over your irrational fears and increase your awareness over them. In today’s podcast, we go deep into one of the most important elements to your anxiety healing, please enjoy (show notes below).

Podcast Show Notes

Awareness and attention are some of the many factors hindering people from recovering from anxiety. In this new episode, I explore the difference between awareness and attention, and the consequences of both in the anxiety recovery journey.

Awareness is generally the ability to be aware of different things at the same time whereas attention is the focus on one particular thing. In your anxiety recovery quest, you probably focus on diverting your attention from certain triggers. However, the human psychology (this YouTube audiobook explains the brain on anxiety)works in a way that the more you focus on avoiding those triggers, the more you will suffer from anxiety. You need to exercise awareness instead of attention.

If you have been struggling with anxiety and you are looking for better and proven ways of overcoming it, then join me in this episode as I explore the differences between awareness and attention.

Quotes from this podcast episode

“Awareness is to be aware of a number of things, but not pay attention to one particular thing. Attention is kind of like the flashlight, which focuses its attention on one personal thing and all its characteristics.”

“Your response around what is easy compared to hard is the interpretation your inner child wants you to pay more attention to, so that things don’t change, and you continue to fear what is not even here, for the sake of protection and familiarity.”

“Our ability to see another side of the story, a safer or more neutral side that could potentially take the anxiety away, swiftly even is the key. So friends starting today, this doesn’t mean to put a tremendous amount of pressure on yourself and say, starting today, I’m going to be this super aware guy, but not pay full attention to my fears from now on.”
